Are Magnet Kitchens Any Good? A Buyer’s Checklist
Short answer: Magnet kitchens can be a good option for buyers who value a guided design process and want a choice between Magnet installation and using their own fitter. The more useful question is whether the specific design, cabinet build, guarantee and installation scope in the written quote suit your project. Compare the proposal line by line rather than judging a brand or headline discount alone.
Start with the cabinet route, not the door colour
Magnet currently distinguishes between Ready to Assemble cabinets and Pre-Built cabinets. Its installation information describes Ready to Assemble cabinets as 16mm and assembled by the fitter, while Pre-Built cabinets are described as 18mm rigid units assembled in the factory. The right route depends on the project, but the choice should be recorded clearly on your quote before you compare alternatives.
Magnet says its design service can include a home measure, 3D design, samples and a quote. Keep the latest design revision and item schedule: it is the practical basis for comparing any other proposal.
Look beyond the headline guarantee
Magnet’s current warranty guide lists different cabinet cover periods for Pre-Built and flat-pack cabinets, as well as separate periods for frontals, panels, plinths, trims, handles and knobs. It also describes a workmanship guarantee where Magnet installs the kitchen. Product cover, installation workmanship and third-party fitter responsibility are different things, so read the documentation supplied with your order.
What should a Magnet kitchen quote include?
- Plan and survey: design revision, room dimensions, appliance locations, service positions and site assumptions.
- Cabinet route: Ready to Assemble or Pre-Built, cabinet sizes, corner units, larders, fillers, panels and plinths.
- Doors and storage: exact range, finish, handles, hinges, drawers, pull-outs, bins and lighting.
- Worktops and water: material, thickness, templating, cut-outs, sink, tap, waste and any fitting exclusions.
- Appliances and ventilation: exact appliance models, integrated doors, extraction requirements and who connects each item.
- Fitting and preparation: removal, disposal, plumbing, gas, electrics, plastering, flooring, decorating and making-good.
- Aftercare and terms: product warranties, installer workmanship, payment stages, delivery arrangements and the route for resolving missing or damaged goods.
Does Magnet installation cover every part of the project?
Ask for the installation schedule. Magnet’s published information describes a baseline package and notes that a sink and tap may be fitted without connections; the final scope depends on the chosen package and project. Confirm every task in writing, including plumbing, gas, electrical work, removal, disposal and finishing.
When a supply-only comparison is useful
A supply-only route can suit someone with a trusted fitter or someone who wants to separate product supply from fitting and site work. It is not automatically lower cost or lower risk: the final plan should be approved by the fitter, and responsibilities for delivery, access, fitting, connections, snagging and replacements should be clear.

Frequently asked questions
Are Magnet kitchens supplied rigid or flat-pack?
Magnet’s current pages describe both routes. Ready to Assemble cabinets are assembled by the fitter, while Pre-Built cabinets are factory assembled. Confirm the specific route in your own quote.
Can I use my own fitter with a Magnet kitchen?
Magnet says buyers can use an independent installer and advises that the fitter should approve the plans before work begins. Agree responsibility for final measurements, workmanship and utility connections in writing.
Can I compare a Magnet quote with a supply-only alternative?
Yes. The useful comparison is the same item schedule: cabinet type, sizes, doors, storage, worktops, appliances, delivery and exclusions.
