I can help you shape an Aalborg kitchen around your room and priorities, then supply the agreed specification nationally. You stay involved in the decisions that matter: layout, storage, colour, appliances, worktops and the practical arrangements for delivery and fitting.
A carefully proportioned micro-Shaker door
The Aalborg sample is built with a 22mm door and a 20mm face frame. The frame is ash timber, with a veneered MDF centre panel set into a 3mm centre recess. It is a five-piece, lay-on door, so the door sits over the front of the cabinet rather than being a true in-frame door.
That construction is worth understanding before you choose a style. Aalborg offers a crisp, framed appearance with a delicate centre detail, but it should not be described as solid timber throughout or as a true in-frame kitchen. The centre panel is veneered MDF, while the painted timber frame provides the visible structure around it.
Painted colour schemes with room to personalise
Aalborg works well when the kitchen is treated as part of the wider room. You might keep the doors calm and let a stone or timber worktop lead, use a deeper island to anchor an open-plan space, or repeat a wall colour on selected cabinetry for a more architectural effect. Samples and the final quoted colour selection should guide the decision, because light, flooring and adjoining finishes all change how a painted tone reads.
For a warmer, gently contrasted scheme, the range can be shown in a Fawn and Truffle combination. Copse Green is another example of the broader painted direction available for Aalborg. These are starting points rather than a fixed palette: we can discuss the colours you want to use and check the current options and timing for your project in the quotation.
Designed around your way of using the kitchen
A micro-Shaker frame can suit both a compact kitchen and a larger room where you want the doors to feel detailed without becoming visually busy. I can help you balance tall storage, drawer banks, open areas and feature pieces so the style is consistent but the layout remains practical. The cabinet specification, fillers, hinges and drawer system will be set out in your quote, alongside any worktops, appliances and other inclusions you choose.
SJB Trade Kitchens supplies and designs nationally, with one point of contact from the first outline through to the agreed supply scope. Installation and building work depend on the project, so we will clarify who is measuring, fitting and coordinating any connected trades rather than assuming the same route for every kitchen.
How Aalborg compares with other painted styles
If you are comparing Aalborg with a larger classic Shaker, the main difference is the finer micro-Shaker proportion and the 3mm centre recess. If true in-frame construction is essential, say so at the outset: Aalborg is lay-on and is not intended as a substitute for that construction. For background on the distinction, see this SJB’s Harvey Jones alternative guide. Our guide explains the different buying routes without assuming that the construction or service is identical.
Start your Aalborg kitchen plan
Begin with your room dimensions or an existing plan, then tell me about your preferred colour, budget, timeframe and fitting responsibility. You can also share an existing kitchen quote for an itemised comparison of specifications and inclusions; any current availability and project timing will be confirmed for your scheme rather than promised in advance.
Begin your kitchen journey with SJB by drawing your room, uploading a plan or sharing the brief you already have. I will use that starting point to help develop a considered Aalborg proposal.
