Rigid kitchen units are pre-assembled kitchen cabinets that arrive at your door fully built and ready to install — no flat-pack assembly required. Unlike the self-assembly carcasses sold by most high-street kitchen retailers, rigid units are constructed under controlled conditions using precision machinery, cam and dowel joints, and high-quality adhesives. The result is a cabinet that is structurally stronger, dimensionally more accurate, and significantly faster to install on site.
At SJB Trade Kitchens, every rigid kitchen unit we supply is built from 18mm Egger or Kronospan board — including the backs. While most budget suppliers use thin hardboard backs to cut costs, our cabinets feature solid 18mm backs as standard, giving the carcass genuine structural integrity and a far longer lifespan. This is one of the key differences between our units and what you would find at Howdens, Wren, or other large retailers.
Every cabinet comes fitted with Blum soft-close hinges and Blum Antaro drawer systems as standard — the gold standard in kitchen hardware, backed by a lifetime guarantee. For those who want to go further, we also offer dovetail solid oak drawer boxes as a premium upgrade. All units are made to order, built to your exact measurements, with over 100 door styles to choose from across gloss, matt, shaker, handleless, and painted ranges.
